Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Socio.hu Social Science Review is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal published online by the HUN-REN Institute for Sociology, Centre for Social Sciences, Hungarian Academy of Sciences Centre of Excellence. It is rankedincategory „A” by the Committee on Sociology of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

  1. Socio.hu accepts original manuscripts based on the authors’ own scientific work, which have not been previously published, nor are with another journal for consideration.
  2. Format: DOC (DOCX), RTF or ODT
    Length: papers 30.000–80.000 characters, reviews 10.000–30.000 characters.
  3. The paper should include an abstract (max. 2000 characters), and 3-4 keywords.
  4. The text should include a separate initial page with the affiliation and academic title of the author(s), their e-mail addresses, and links to web pages, academic profiles or CVs.
  5. Only works cited in the text should be listed in the list of references. Please use >> this sample for formatting references.

  1. All papers published in the journal receive a >>DOI identification number. Please include the DOI in each cited item of the list of references in case it has one. CrossRef is recommended to search for DOIs.  
  2. Tables and figures are to be included in the text. The numbers and titles of the tables and figures should come before the tables and figures in separate lines. The original sources of tables and figures already published earlier are to be mentioned under the tables/figures. Please also attach a high resolution version of figures and images as separate files, and send the source file of diagrams as well.
  3. Footnotes are to be included in the main text with Arabic numerals. References should always be indicated in the main text instead of footnotes.
  4. Reviews should indicate the exact data of the reviewed publications after the title; or the title, date and venue of the conference.

Why we collect your data:
Registering and creating an account allows you to log in, manage your profile, and participate as an author, as a reviewer, or as an editor. When registering an account, we ask you to log in and provide your name, email address, profession, and – if applicable – academic affiliation.
As an author: The personal data submitted will be used in the review process – which is double-blind – and will eventually become a part of the published article in order to attribute your work and the provenance thereof correctly.
As a reviewer: After an invitation by the editors and your registration, your data will be used as a contact address during the review process solely by the editors. Your data will not be shared publicly and will only be accessible to the editors and system administrators of Socio.hu Social Science Review. The data will only be used in connection with this journal.

Why we store your data:
Published personal data that accompanies an article forms part of the official published record in order to document the provenance of the work and to attribute the work correctly.
What to do if you want to get a copy of your data or want your data to be removed:
As an author:
You are able to view, change, and remove your data associated with your profile. Should you choose to delete your account completely, please contact us at socio.hu@tk.hu. To conform to publication ethics and best practice, any personal data that is published alongside an article cannot be removed.
As a reviewer:
If you would no longer like to be registered as a reviewer, you can edit your profile. This will remove your role as a reviewer, and you will not receive any more review requests. However, any existing reviews you may have carried out will remain.

Indexing

Socio.hu Social Science Review is currently indexed by CEEOL (Central and Eastern European Online Library), MTMT (Hungarian Scientific Bibliography) and Matarka (Hungarian Periodicals Table of Contents Database).

Archiving

Socio.hu Social Science Review is archived by REAL, the Repository of the Library of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Additionally, the PKP Preservation Network (PN) provides free preservation services for any OJS journal that meets a few basic criteria. The PKP PN plugin for OJS 3 is currently in development and will be available in the plugin gallery at the end of 2022.
