Workplace learning and social integration
Abstract
Abstract The labour market is one of the most important institutions integrating modern societies. Individuals’ labour market value is strongly determined by the quantity and quality of the knowledge, skills and competences they possess. It partly depends on the performance of the education system, but also on the effectiveness of learning processes taking place in different institutional settings. Workplace learning is of utmost importance in this respect, however, is has attracted relatively little attention so far. The study is based on the results of qualitative research and aims at providing a differentiated picture about the various aspects of workplace learning with a particular focus on learning environments and the role learning plays in social integration.
