Abstract

The study examines the quality of life of carers of people with dementia being cared for at home (i.e. family carers). No comprehensive study has been carried out on family carers of people with dementia in Hungary so far. Thus, the purpose of this study was to lay the foundations for an empirical study to be conducted on family carers of people with dementia in Hungary. Using the method of narrative literature review, as well as relying on existing systematic reviews, the study seeks to answer the following questions: how can care- related quality of life be measured; what are the peculiarities of providing care for persons with dementia; and what factors were identified as affecting the care-related quality of life of family carers of people with dementia? Also, the study aims to review the data available on people with dementia in Hungary, and to point out the data gaps and areas requiring further research.
